Well tell me about, no journel been done here for a while and worse Ive not been checking the mail and we have a few more cranks than usual coming on and its really not that kind of site. Its just about having a browse and finding different bits of interest and maybe letting an Author know the feedback on his work. It works well like that for me and to be fair we aint done bad with the site thats only just into its second year. Its gone a bit worldwide with always a great respect coming from Italy, Japan, Oz, States and the like. Add all the support we recieve from the UK and you've got to say the site really has something going for it, so I will keep it updated and I apologise that book commitments can cause the site to be neglected from time to time. So onwards and upwards then and its all happening of late.
Maxwell, remember him Big Brother bod that was one of the lads that knew how to have the crack, well I backed him at the time at 7-1 and me sis found his profile on the Big Brother site saying his fav book is CASS. that book was first published in 2000 and its a real compliment that book is selling everywhere today still and its no longer a hope a film of the book. The contract is being negioted right now with the lead part offered to Colin Salmon (Bond films, Prime Suspect). The films director Jon Baird I met on the set of Green Street where he was a producer. He made a extremely powerful short film titled ITS A CASUAL LIFE that has the credits of writer Dougie Brimson and actor Richard Driscoll, its now become a sort after hoolie flick. The short film route to success with little known director in the movie world has been done before. It was a route taken by the now famous directors of LOCK STOCK...and also GREEN STREET'S Lexi Alexander who made the boxer's short JOHNNY FLYNTON.Boxing movies are big news today and Ive seen this short and its a master that is worth tracking down on the net or through a dvd specialist. I will certainly pass on to her a book I have been excited about all year and is soon to be published on Pennant Books and believe me I think I know me books but I seriously think this has film stamped all over it. Its about a colourful Irish boxer who comes through every hardluck story you can put up and then backs a ring comeback after 12 years out of the game.BIG JOE EGAN is name and title and the books foreword is done by 'Iron Mike Tyson'.

Well there you have it. 'The baddest man on the planet getting together with the toughest white man on the planet'. This has come about entirely through a true friendship of respect between Mike and Joe that goes back to Iron Mike's Cus D' Amato Catskill mountains era. Joe's book BIG JOE EGAN is my first publication as a publisher trading as PENNANT BOOKS. If you have enjoyed what I have brought to the literature world as an author then you be more than impressed with the quality and direction I intend taking now as a publisher.
Talking of former world boxing champians how many of you watched the recent documentary special of Frank Bruno on ITV, Gloves Off. Well judging by my messages many of you did and what a revealing put together program.I know from conversations in the street many folk wonder how is Frank and what went on with him during that well publicised mental breakdown and this production certainly lifted the lid on quite a lot you wouldn't have thought might be said.I thought Frank come across well to the public to the point you would feel even more for him now than when you did back when he got sectioned under the Mental Health Act. I was interviewed myself for the program and I was on it throughout. I didn't know I would be featured so much and was concerned after giving one of my longest interviews how I might get edited. But no I do know Frank well, very well at one time and even I was surprised as the viewer on some of the stuff mentioned. Credit to the producers that went with the truth being the bomb and the gloves did come off didn't they. I am glad in a way my link to Frank and the real story of us got confirmed by Frank himself on that show. Some people can't get their heads around the World champ with a ex-hoolie if the've not read the stories in my biography CASS.It is a unusual link and story that has been touched on tv before on The Trisha Show but bigger still the producers of the Oprah Winfrey show in America picked up on our friendship and wanted to fly us both out for the show. Its true, Frank called me in the middle of the night as he had them on his phone and my reply was well what you calling me for. And his reply was "well its your story as well Mr Pennant and its you they want, hee hee". The show never came of as the notice was too short to arrange us getting over but we both were up for going. Another thing with Frank on that show that come across to me was its obvious he needs some happiness and one of the happy periods I was really around him was when we both had a season ticket together over the Hammers. It was'nt touched on in the documentary but he loves his football, he also plays it when the offer is there. So my message is Frank the fans all remember you and are always asking on you, the club itself are also big fans of yours and when you feel ready get your arse back over because there is a team now with some real pride being put back in the claret and blue. Even the fan we nickname the manager that sits in the Chicken Run 'getting out of his pram' and you know who I mean is looking happy this season. So there's the call for your happy pill and its West Ham pal.
Ive lost count on what tv stations that Toughest Towns has been screened on this month, Bravo, C5, any others? They feature Portsmouth as one of the towns in the series and as I was co-author with 657's Rob Silvester I get my boatrace on this documentary too. Another cracking little look for all thats crazy with those I feel I have very good relations with down at Pompey. Of course anything Pompey is not going to be well recieved by those in Southampton and me now mentioning them in print means a few less beers being offered my way next time I'm down there. But a unlikely call was that the Chelsea bods are not impressed and not happy upon seeing a certain Mr Donald MacIntyre's name splashed all over this production. They like to use a pompey fav word on anything to do with this man to them is scum. This is because as a result of previous documentary that had his involvement featured on the Headhunter boys and a few of them went down for it. Trial by tv was the call and not just by the Chelsea lot as legal maction against the MacIntyre show was taken by others claiming unfair portrayal. Personally the Chelsea bods have a point because if you read between the lines of Headhunter Jason Marriner in his own chapter in TOP BOYS book, it certainly raises the question to the point why on earth would football lads ever knowingly get involved with this MacIntyre bloke. Personally I wouldn't and you know not just Pompey but I would go as far as any proper lads would. The case hear and the facts is MacIntyre is not featured with by interview or at the location when Pompey and ex 657 lads done that documentary. It was made a real while back so far that most of us wondered if it would ever get shown. And truth is that may well have been the case because it got taken over by others and whether it was a MacIntyre own production company or not it was his name thats got this series back on the screens. It got a new team in and the old out hence it was as much a surprise to see our ownselves out under MacIntyre Toughest towns as when originally shot it was just C5 or was it C4's Toughest Towns. Truth is the bomb gentlemen.
Is this the best hoolie book your gonna read to date? Well com'on some of you critics and septic's that wern't there or were with the wrong mob can't get their heads around the done this and done that brigade. So here you are boys the book of your dreams is the first book out on my own publishing label Pennant Books. The new book is titled MIG DOWN and is all about those original casual firm underdogs 'The Mig Crew'. Com'on if you truely remember your football days you will remember going to Luton with one thing in mind, and thats to take liberty's on someone else's manor. So how does it feel to be on the other end of all that saying fuck you, we're Luton and proud and we get nasty. When you get the chance to read it (comes out Dec) you will understand the question I first put on this book, quality lads, really, and its all in the words of Tommy Robinson who did the Luton chapter in my book TOP BOYS. Don't take it from me as word of mouth will get to you on this, I'm confident this will stand up with any.
Talking of Top Boys I have started a new book thats to be a England book and I am looking for story contributions from any of you guys and those I'd meet researching Terrace Legends. You know who you are and I don't mind some of those firms that have since got in contact to say about themselves who have not been in my books. I will be contacting all but with a lot of you guys I cant keep up with all the changed me number again firm. Use the private email box so as not to stick up your contact number or drop me your stuff to PO BOX 28387, London SE20 8WU.
Allways on about me own books but Ive bought a few crackers lately and I'll admit I've found absolutly no time to read all, so let me know full sp if you have read any of these: INSIDE THE FOREST EXECUTIVE CREW, HEROES AND VILLIANS, THE BRICK, FRANK, COCKNEY REJECT and I ain't got it yet but I will get the ZULU book and certainly the follow up to POMPEY BOYS, along with another title unknown but its by Bob Beech. Not been this spoilt for a read since me old Joe Hawkins book days.
